This year marks the fifth annual Thank a Golf Course Superintendent Day, an international event on September 9 recognizing the dedication and hard work of the professionals who keep our courses in top condition. These individuals are essential to the success of our club and the quality of our game, and we’re proud to have two exceptional superintendents guiding the teams at Diamante, under the leadership of our Director of Golf Course Maintenance, Kevin Welker.
Ernesto brings 28 years of golf course maintenance experience to his new role. He started his career in 1997 as an assistant superintendent at The Bridges at Rancho Santa Fe Golf Club in California. For the last 18 years, he has been a vital part of the Diamante team, serving as the assistant golf course superintendent before being promoted to his current position in June. Ernesto also holds an online agronomy certificate from the Universidad Autónoma de Chapingo in Mexico, showcasing his commitment to his craft.
Freddy is a seasoned agronomist with 19 years of golf course experience. He earned his degree in agronomy from the Universidad Autónoma de Chapingo in Mexico and began his career as an assistant superintendent in Los Cabos in 2006. He went on to serve as a superintendent in Acapulco in 2010 and then spent the next 11 years in Playa del Carmen and Cozumel. Freddy returned to Los Cabos in 2021 as an assistant superintendent at Costa Palmas and most recently served as the golf course superintendent at Solmar Golf Links.
